Life Spine Announces First Cases With the Micro Invasive PROLIFT® Lateral Expandable Spacer System

HUNTLEY, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Life Spine, a medical device company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets products for the surgical treatment of spinal disorders, announced the initial surgeries of the PROLIFT Lateral Expandable Spacer System.

“I have been utilizing PROLIFT for posterior lumbar approaches in my practice for the past few years and have been eager to start using the Lateral version. With PROLIFT Lateral I am able to perform a Micro Invasive Lateral procedure with less disruption to the surrounding anatomy and fewer instrument passes than a traditional lateral approach with a static interbody. The implant can be expanded to whichever height works best for each patient which allows for a completely custom correction and disc height restoration,” said Dr. Ali Mesiwala of Rancho Cucamonga, California.

PROLIFT Lateral was designed to assist in the restoration and maintenance of sagittal alignment with multiple lordotic options of 0°, 7°, and 15°; as well as meeting patient sizing requirements by offering footprints of 18mm, 22mm, and 26mm wide; heights ranging from 8mm-20mm; and lengths from 45mm to 60mm. In-situ delivery of graft material after final expansion can be accomplished with the OSTEO-LINE Graft Delivery Device, designed to assist in the fusion process.

It is complemented by Life Spine’s complete Micro Invasive Lateral portfolio including the SENTRY Lateral Plating Systems, the CENTRIC® Plier Style Retractor, Disc Prep Instruments, and the PLATEAU®-X family of interbody devices. Life Spine, sole designer and distributor of the PROLIFT Lateral system, will be showcasing their complete Micro Invasive portfolio at the 34th annual meeting of the North American Spine Society (NASS) in Chicago on September 25-27th, booth 3019.
