Johnson & Johnson Alerts Doctors: Cypher Heart Stents May Miss Expansion Specs

Nasdaq -- Johnson & Johnson's (JNJ) Cordis business has alerted doctors that the company's embattled Cypher stent may not meet design specifications for proper expansion within heart arteries. The issue in the "Urgent Medical Device Alert," sent to customers March 31, affects all distributed Cypher lots, Cordis said. The unit noted it hasn't received any reports of adverse events and that the stent's functional performance shouldn't be affected.
