Exploit Technologies and BANSEA Sign MOU Under the Angel Investment Management (AIM) Initiative

Exploit Technologies and the Business Angels Network South East Asia (BANSEA) today announced a strategic collaboration under the Exploit Technologies Angel Investment Management initiative (AIM) to enhance and accelerate angel networking activity, and to enable start-ups to have greater access to Angel investors in Singapore and in the region.

Under the new partnership, Exploit Technologies and BANSEA will collaborate to jointly organise Angel networking events and undertake joint marketing activities to promote Angel investments in local start-ups. In addition, collaborating under AIM’s umbrella, Exploit Technologies and BANSEA will build capabilities, and promote Angel investment and entrepreneurship in Singapore through the sharing of best practices, and holding seminars and training sessions.

Mr Lim Chuan Poh, Chairman of A*STAR, said, "The partnership between Exploit Technologies and BANSEA looks set to facilitate more conversations and networking among start-ups and Angel investors. This will greatly enhance and increase the opportunities for the start-ups to receive funding and support and contribute significantly to the growth of innovation and enterprise in Singapore”.

Mr Boon Swan Foo, Executive Chairman of Exploit Technologies and Chairman of TTN, added, "Angel investors provide invaluable investment, advice, mentoring and business networks to start-ups. Exploit Technologies is delighted to collaborate with BANSEA to promote Angels investment. We will be able to facilitate a pipeline of start-ups from A*STAR and TTN partners to tap on such Angel-networks. We will be announcing collaboration with other Angel-networks very shortly."

Prof Wong Poh Kam, Chairman, BANSEA, said, "BANSEA has been encouraging and facilitating Angel investment in this region since 2001 and we are glad to be collaborating with Exploit Technologies under the Angel Investment Management (AIM) initiative. I look forward to this enhanced level of collaboration.” To facilitate the collaboration of joint programs, Exploit Technologies will be hosting the BANSEA Secretariat at its premises located at Biopolis and facilitating Angels networking events in the Biopolis vicinity and other parts of Singapore.

The AIM initiative was launched by Exploit Technologies on 15 July 2008 to encourage innovation in the Singapore investment landscape. AIM serves as a catalyst and facilitator to encourage Angel networks to be formed in special interest groups. The initiative seeks to encourage Angel investment in start-ups, and this will benefit aspiring entrepreneurs and inject new vibrancy into the Singapore economy. Correspondingly, AIM helps the Angel investment community to gain access to a large pool of Intellectual Property portfolios and start-ups in the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and other partners of the Technology Transfer Network (TTN).
