C.R. Bard Creates 200 New Jobs Through Puerto Rican Expansion

Medical device manufacturer Bard Shannon Ltd. in Humacao is investing $43 million to expand its operations and add 200 new jobs in the process, Gov. Luis Fortuño announced Wednesday during a tour of the facility. As a result of the expansion, Bard will transfer the manufacturing of more than 31 products in its inventory previously were made in other states and countries to the new plant in Puerto Rico. Based in New Jersey, Bard, which manufactures medical equipment including catheters, hernia meshes and biopsy systems, established operations in Puerto Rico in 1981 and currently has 466 employees on its payroll.
