Alara, Inc. Debuts CRystalView(R) R200 Desktop CR System At RSNA 2005

CHICAGO, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- McCORMICK PLACE, NORTH BUILDING, HALL B, LEVEL 3, BOOTH #6427 -- Alara Inc., a leading manufacturer of Computed Radiography (CR) medical imaging products, today announced it is showcasing its new CRystalView R200 desktop CR system at RSNA 2005 in Chicago. Designed as a compact system small enough for desktop or mobile use, the CRystalView R200 system combines outstanding image quality with a 50+ plate-per-hour output, making the solution ideal for a variety of clinical settings including small office practices, clinics, hospitals, ERs and other demanding imaging environments.

Building on its industry-leading expertise in CR products, Alara has created a flexible, reliable and value-priced CR alternative in the CRystalView R200 system. “Imaging professionals get the best of both worlds with this product,” said Jim Walker, president and CEO of Alara, Inc. “The CRystalView R200 system offers the same exceptional performance found in premium CR systems, plus a compact size suitable for desktops or mobile applications. Whether used in private physician practices or large hospitals, the CRystalView R200 system offers excellent throughput and superb image quality at a competitive price.”

The CRystalView R200 system, including a CR reader, imaging plates, cassettes, QC workstation and related software, gives users the performance and leading-edge technology critical to remain competitive in healthcare practices today. Fast acquisition of images with twelve-pixels/mm pixel pitch (high resolution mode), and 16-bit grayscale resolution, assures exceptional quality for every image.

For demanding clinical environments like ER’s and large radiology departments, the CRystalView R200 system is the perfect choice with its high throughput capability of 50+ plates per hour for 14X17 images and only 60 seconds to image display. The CRystalView R200 system is also ideal as an adjunct for Digital Radiography (DR) where clinics and hospitals cannot afford to shut down their busy Radiology practices.

The CRystalView R200 system features a long list of user features including exam-based imaging protocols, calibrated exposure indicator tracking, integrated eraser and a rich set of image review and processing tools. Due to its comprehensive DICOM compatibility, the system can easily integrate X-ray studies with PACS, teleradiology, image distribution and archives via local or wide area network.

Deploying the CRystalView R200 system is simple, thanks to its plug-and-play connectivity. Up to 4 QC workstations can be connected per reader, making it suitable for small to moderately-sized clinics, imaging centers and radiology departments. Installation and training typically requires less than a single day.

Alara’s CRystalView R200 desktop CR system is not yet available for sale in the U.S. and is expected to begin shipping by late 1st Quarter 2006. During RSNA 2005, the CRystalView R200 system will be demonstrated at the Alara exhibit in Hall B-North Building, Level 3, Booth #6427 of McCormick Place.
