BERKELEY, Calif., Nov. 9, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- XOMA Ltd. (Nasdaq:XOMA), a leader in the discovery and development of therapeutic antibodies, today announced the expansion of its gevokizumab (XOMA 052) program. XOMA and its partner, Les Laboratoires Servier, are in the process of implementing a broader Phase 3 program to include the patient population diagnosed with non-infectious uveitis involving the intermediate and/or posterior segments of the eye (NIU). NIU is a clinical designation that encompasses multiple ocular diseases, including Behçet's uveitis. Separately, XOMA announced it is initiating a proof-of-concept program designed to identify additional conditions that may respond to treatment with gevokizumab.
