SEATTLE, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Invest Northwest, the Pacific Northwest's premier life science CEO and investor conference produced by the Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association, has announced its keynote speakers for the March 20-21, 2007 event, to be held in Seattle, WA.
Keynote Speakers, Invest Northwest 2007:
Edward V. Fritzky, Director, Amgen . From January 1994 to July 2002, Mr. Fritzky served as chief executive officer, president and chairman of the board of directors of Immunex Corporation, until its acquisition by Amgen in 2002. Mr. Fritzky is also a director of Geron Corporation, SonoSite, Inc. and Jacobs Engineering Group. Prior to Immunex he was president and vice president of Lederle Laboratories, a division of American Cyanamid. He holds a B.A. from Duquesne University and is a graduate of the Advanced Executive Program, J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. In 1998, Mr. Fritzky was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Duquesne University and in 1999 he was named University of Washington Business Leader of the Year. He has served as a member of the Technology Alliance, University of Washington Business School Advisory Board, and several community nonprofit boards.
John Milligan, Ph.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Gilead Sciences . Dr. Milligan served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Gilead from March 2002 and was promoted to executive vice president and CFO in August 2003. He joined Gilead Sciences in 1990 as a research scientist and transitioning to project management in 1994. In 1996 was assigned to lead the Gilead team for the collaboration with Hoffmann-La Roche on Tamiflu(R). In 2000, he was appointed to VP, Corporate Development. In 2006, Dr. Milligan was named Bay Area CFO of the Year for public companies with revenues over $500 million. He was also named to Institutional Investor's "America's Best CFOs" list in the biotechnology industry. He received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Illinois and was an American Cancer Society fellow at the University of California at San Francisco.
