London, England (AHN) - Scientists have achieved breakthrough in identifying three genes that are responsible for the development of a type of childhood brain cancer which could help find more treatments. Researchers from the University of Nottingham hope the breakthrough provide a more detailed understanding of the genetics behind ependymoma, the third most common form of brain cancer in children. The university says that about 300 children under 15 are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year in the UK.
