University of California, Irvine has announced the appointment of three faculty members as Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 7, 2018 – The Ayala School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) has announced the appointment of three faculty members as Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
The UCI professors receiving this prestigious recognition of their scientifically distinguished efforts to advance science and its applications are:
- Adriana D. Briscoe, Ph.D., in the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology specializing in genomics, molecular evolution, sensory physiology, color vision, color and behavior
- Craig E.L. Stark, Ph.D., in the department of Neurobiology and Behavior specializing in memory, hippocampus, neuroimaging, amnesia and FMRI
- Kathleen K. Treseder, Ph.D., chair of the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology specializing in microbial biogeochemistry, ecosystem ecology and global change
Professors Briscoe, Stark and Treseder are joined this year by seven other UCI professors, representing expertise in areas ranging from computer science to physical sciences, who also received this distinguished recognition.
The American Association for the Advancement of Science is the world’s largest general scientific society and the publisher of a number of distinguished scientific journals including Science, Science Translational Medicine and Science Advances. It encompasses nearly 250 affiliated societies and academies of science, serving 10 million individuals.
