The IMechE accreditation means TAP Biosystems is now listed as one of a select group of companies, which includes many multinationals, offering professional mentoring and training to support engineers in their career development.
The accreditation, which was awarded without reservation, was the culmination of a four stage selection process, including a visit by an IMechE interview panel of engineering experts. The interviewers noted in their report 'the high level management support for the scheme with a wide range of opportunities available to developing engineers' and that 'early responsibility was given to developing engineers who had enthusiastic, trained mentor support'.
Justin Owen CEng IMechE, Head of Engineering at TAP Biosystems, said: “We are honoured to have achieved accreditation because it recognises that we promote high standards of engineering. We already have a number of chartered engineers amongst our staff and we believe encouraging professional development attracts the best engineering talent.”
Owen added: “We need skilled engineers in the life sciences sector today to lead in the development of new technologies and processes for the discovery and manufacture of biological drugs and regenerative medicines. This makes working at companies involved in this space, like TAP Biosystems, a very exciting place to be. By utilising our unique skills, engineers can not only help develop systems we are proud of, but also really contribute to improving the future of research and healthcare.”
