O’FALLON, Mo., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Synergetics USA, Inc. announced today an expansion of its relationship with Mutoh Corporation (“Mutoh”). Mutoh, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Miwatec Co., Ltd., developed and manufactures the Sonopet Omni(R) in Japan. Synergetics produces specialized tips for the aspirator which allow for the ultrasonic removal of bone during neuro, gastrointestinal, urological, plastic and reconstructive, general, orthopedic gynecological, thoracic, laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery. This ultrasonic aspirator and tips are currently sold in the United States and Canada under Synergetics’ branding. The Sonopet Omni(R) ultrasonic aspirator is the only currently marketed device approved by the FDA for ultrasonic removal of bone. The expansion will allow Synergetics to begin selling the Omni(R) ultrasonic aspirator and tips in all but a few countries internationally, subject to any necessary regulatory approvals.
“We are obviously very pleased with the expansion of our relationship with Mutoh into the international marketplace,” said Gregg D. Scheller, president and CEO of Synergetics. “The Omni(R) product goes hand-in-glove with our Malis(R) line of electrosurgical generators and allows us considerable marketing leverage with our blossoming lineup of international distributors.”
