GAITHERSBURG, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Smithers Avanza, a contract research organization (CRO) supporting the pharmaceutical industry, announced that its Bioanalytical Services Division has Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certification.

CLIA certification is overseen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is mandatory for any laboratory performing testing that leads to the diagnosis or health assessment of patients.
