HULL, England, May 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Smith & Nephew’s Advanced Wound Management division, announced today that it is launching new and improved versions of Allevyn Adhesive and Allevyn Sacrum that now have up to three times increased fluid handling capacity.
The new Allevyn Adhesive dressings now have a more breathable top film and a faster rate of fluid uptake. This combined with the existing benefits of Allevyn helps to deliver the optimal moist wound environment for the promotion of faster healing.
“2006 represents a very important year for Allevyn wound dressings and these improvements will help strengthen our position further as the leading global brand within the foam dressings market,” said Joe Woody, President, Smith & Nephew Advanced Wound Management. The enhanced products offer even more benefits to our customers and will continue to improve the quality of life of their patients. “
Allevyn helps to facilitate healing by reducing the risk of maceration and maintaining an optimal moist wound environment. Allevyn offers the clinician a clinically proven range of dressings that are cost effective both for the clinician and the buyer.
John Timmons, Lecturer in Post Registration Nursing, Glasgow Caledonian University said “I have been using the new Allevyn(TM) Adhesive products on my patients the majority of whom are in nursing homes. My patients have commented that these dressings are really comfortable and I have found that they stay in place without causing any reaction or maceration to the surrounding skin. Usage of the product has given me confidence in the dressing wear-time and its ability to effectively manage exudate whilst always maintaining a moist wound environment. This makes my patients lives better and my job easier.”
