Small Drug Firms Face Imminent Closure

Small drug units are facing the possibility of imminent closure, with the deadline of December 2004 to upgrade manufacturing standards fast approaching. Around 8,000 small drug units all over India, are facing the possibility of imminent closure. That’s because most of them are unable to comply with the deadline of December 2004, to upgrade their manufacturing standards as per the revised norms of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Big units too, may be affected as they outsource a lot of work to these small units, reports CNBC-TV18.
