OAK BROOK, Ill - The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Research & Education (R&E) Foundation awarded the 2018 Carestream Health/RSNA Research Scholar Grant to Christine E. Edmonds, M.D. This grant is made possible by Carestream Health’s support of the RSNA R&E Foundation.
The Carestream Health/RSNA Research Scholar Grant is designed for emerging leaders in radiology research. This career development award facilitates the transition of young faculty into independent investigators and prepares them for NIH funding. The grant award is $75,000 per year for a two-year study.
Christine E. Edmonds, M.D., Massachusetts General Hospital, developed novel PET tracers for imaging HER3 and HDAC, to identify mechanisms of treatment resistance and optimize therapy in breast cancer patients. The long-term goal of Dr. Edmond’s project is to utilize these tracers to minimize treatment failure of triple negative and HER2-postive breast cancer.
The RSNA R&E Foundation Board of Trustees approved funding for $4 million in radiology research and education grants this year, achieving a funding rate of 35 percent of grant applicants. “The R&E Foundation is grateful for Carestream Health’s support of the 2018 grant recipients. This longstanding partnership and commitment is a vital component in ensuring research innovation and seeding the future of radiology,” said N. Reed Dunnick, M.D., chair of the R&E Foundation Board of Trustees.
