Mr Douglas spends four months a year scouring the tropical rainforests of north Australia and Papua New Guinea milking tarantulas, scorpions and centipedes.He sells the venom to biopharmaceutical companies in Australia and the US, and they test it in hopes of finding medical properties. Tarantula venom collected by Mr Douglas is now being tested for the treatment of heart attacks and a number of cancers.
