3 February 2015 - Prof. Dr. Ingwald Obernberger, Managing Director of Bios Bioenergiesysteme GmbH, Graz has been appointed as Conference General Chairman of the 23rd European Biomass Conference and Exhibition.
The event will bring the global biomass community to Vienna from 1 to 4 June 2015 and will attract experts and industrial exhibitors from more than 60 countries reconfimring itself as the most important International platfrom for dialogue between research, industry and policy in the biomass sector.
“It is a great honor for me to invite you to the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition which will take place in the wonderful city of Vienna this year. For me, as an Austrian, it is a special honor to welcome you in the heart of Europe and in a country which is well known for its strong bioenergy industry as well as its large number of bioenergy installations. The share of renewable energy on the gross national energy consumption in Austria amounts to almost 30% of which the largest share is covered from bioenergy (about 60%). Austria has a long history in bioenergy and has a leading role in Europe regarding small- and medium scale biomass combustion technologies – Austrian biomass furnace and boiler manufacturers are European technology and market leaders and show export rates of typically more than 75%.
The 23rd edition of this outstanding conference will bring the scientific community as well as industry in the bioenergy field together and will thus form an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, to establish new co-operations and projects as well as to discuss and work together on the future of this strongly developing industry sector...” says Prof. Dr. Ingwald Obernberger.

EUBCE Background
For over 30 years now, the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition - EUBCE - has combined a well-renowned international Scientific Conference with an Industry Exhibition. The EUBCE is held at different venues throughout Europe and ranks on top of the world’s leading events in the biomass sector.
It provides a high-level scientific programme and parallel events which attract participants from a wide ranging background: Researchers, engineers, technologists, standards organisations, financing institutions and policy and decision makers.
Such a global exchange platform of current knowledge in turn attracts industrial exhibitors, making the conference events a significant tool for technology transfer and innovation.
The EUBCE is supported by European and international organisations such as the European Commission, UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Natural Sciences Sector, EUBIA - the European Biomass Industry Association, WCRE - the World Council for Renewable Energy, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Managemen, the Austrian Biomass Association and other organisations.
The Technical Programme is coordinated by the European Commission, Joint Research Centre.
