BOSTON, /PRNewswire/ -- Pri-Med, a leader in medical education, is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Brain Aneurysm Foundation (BAF), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing critical awareness, education, support, advocacy, and research funding to reduce the incidence of brain aneurysm ruptures. BAF has joined with Pri-Med to deliver “Update in Diagnosis and Management of Intracranial Aneurysms for Primary Health Care Providers,” a continuing medical education session that will launch at Pri-Med Midwest in Rosemont, IL, on Wednesday, October 10. One in fifty people in the U.S. has an unruptured brain aneurysm, and 30,000 of them rupture every year. Despite low frequency, brain aneurysms are high in mortality, because the lack of a timely diagnosis often leads to death. To meet the need for early detection, this session will focus on the importance of proper diagnosis and scanning, and faculty will discuss treatment options to use in practice. “Pri-Med is thrilled to be partnering with a globally recognized leader in brain aneurysm awareness,” said Matthew Gagalis, General Manager, Education Programs, Pri-Med. “Educating primary care clinicians on early detection is critical and can have an enormous impact on patient outcomes.” During the session, Sepideh Amin-Hanjani, MD, University of Illinois at Chicago, will address how to recognize signs of an aneurysm rupture, when to make a referral and order appropriate imaging, and best practices for educating the patient about the risk factors for aneurysm formation and rupture. Visit pri-med.com/Midwest for more information or to register for Pri-Med Midwest. Or, look for this session at Pri-Med New York on November 7.
