Futurity -- NYU (US) — There may be a “twisted” way to realize fusion energy as a power source: 3D optical knots. The method, reported in the journal Optics Express, builds on an earlier creation by New York University physicist David Grier, known as a “holographic optical trap,” which uses computer-generated holograms to trap and move microscopic objects in 3D.
