Physio-Control Names Rob Weyer Vice President of Research and Technology Development

REDMOND, Wash. – October 3, 2011 – Physio-Control, Inc., a global leader in emergency medical solutions and wholly-owned subsidiary of Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT), today announced that Rob Weyer has joined the company as vice president of research and technology development. Weyer, most-recently from Philips Oral Healthcare, was selected for his extensive experience in low cost, high-reliability product design and leveraging external partnerships to achieve product development objectives.

Weyer joins Physio-Control from Philips Oral Healthcare (Sonicare) in Bothell, Wash., where he has led R&D and Operations teams and has also served as interim president & CEO. Rob’s tenure within Philips included an overseas assignment in Cambridge, UK and significant experience leading innovation efforts at a global level. Prior to Philips, Rob’s experience included leadership roles of increasing responsibility at Three-Five Systems, Teague, Plexus, and NEO Technologies. Weyer rejoins Physio-Control, where he served as a senior project engineer within the company from 1990-1993. Rob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Oregon State University.
