BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Optimal IMX, a leading provider of comprehensive radiology services for hospitals, announced today that Jonathan Grimes has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Grimes succeeds Jim Kirker, who will remain with the company and continue to provide ongoing operations support.
Mr. Grimes brings over 30 years of healthcare services experience specializing in hospital-based physician management. “Jon has a deep operating background with a heavy emphasis on helping companies grow through M&A and organic sales,” said David J. Brailer, MD, PhD, Chairman of Health Evolution Partners and an Optimal IMX Board Member. “We are excited to have someone of Jon’s caliber joining the Optimal team and we look forward to supporting him as he continues to build what is already a strong operating platform.”
Most recently, Mr. Grimes was on the executive management team of TeamHealth. During his 11-year tenure at TeamHealth Holdings Inc., Mr. Grimes had a variety of executive roles including SVP of Mergers and Acquisitions and President of Emergency and Hospital Medicine. Prior to his tenure at TeamHealth, he was CEO of Straub Hospital and Clinic, CEO of three HCA hospitals and on the management teams of Phycor and Delta Healthcare. In addition, Mr. Grimes is a Board Member of PhysAssist Scribes.
In addition to Mr. Grimes, Optimal announced that Barry Smith has joined its Board of Directors and will serve as its chairman. Mr. Smith is an operating partner at Health Evolution Partners and currently serves on the boards of Magellan Health Services and CenseoHealth. Previously, Mr. Smith founded and served as Chairman, President and CEO of VistaCare, Inc., a national provider of hospice services. Prior to VistaCare, he served as Chairman and CEO of Value Rx, Inc., then one of the country’s largest pharmacy benefit management companies. Mr. Smith was also a Board Member at IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc.
