DALLAS, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society(R) announced today the first annual Lone Star Blood Cancer Conference will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2005 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the American Airlines Training and Conference Center. The program includes educational seminars presented by top blood cancer specialists in North Texas, as well as breakout sessions on disease-specific topics: leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Patients, caregivers, social workers and health care professionals are all encouraged to attend the Lone Star Blood Cancer Conference.
Keynote speaker and award-winning author Wendy Harpham, M.D. will be presenting Happiness in a Storm, Facing Illness and Embracing Life as a Healthy Survivor. Dr. Harphram’s new book Happiness in a Storm was released this September.
Additional speakers include specialists from UT Southwestern Medical Center: Barry Levinson, MD, Vikas Bhushan, MD, Michael Kyba, PhD and Robert Collins, MD. Maria Juarez, MD of Dallas Oncology Consultants will also present at the conference, along with Margaret Sunderland, MD of Texas Oncology, Baylor, Irving and Lynn Collins, RN, MN.
