Morphotek is opening its 60,000-square-foot biologics manufacturing plant in Exton, Pa., on Tuesday.
The $80 million facility was built by Morphotek to give the company the capability to make its proprietary biologic therapeutic products for use in early-stage clinical trials. Its new product pipeline includes antibodies to treat cancer and autoimmune diseases.
Morphotek CEO Nicholas Nicolaides said in a previous interview he expects the plant would enable the company to add between 50 and 100 high-tech jobs over the next few years.
The Chester County biotech company currently has about 175 employees.
Morphotek is hosting a grand opening for the plant, at 215 Welsh Pool Road in the Pickering Creek Business Park, on Aug. 14 beginning at 10 a.m.
