MarketWatch -- Monsanto Co. said Thursday that the U.S. Department of Justice has issued a civil investigative demand into its soybean traits business. The request primarily seeks confirmation that farmers and seed companies will have access to the first-generation Roundup Ready trait after the patent expires in 2014.
