Michigan Biosciences Organization - MichBio Members Honored Among Michigan 50 Companies to Watch

ANN ARBOR, MI--(Marketwire - April 29, 2011) -

Four MichBio members were among those recognized during the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch for 2010 presentation in Lansing last night. MichBio is the association for Michigan’s biosciences industry.

The four MichBio members are:

  • Draths Corporation (Lansing) is a leader in bio-based aromatic and aliphatic monomer development and commercialization.
  • Innovative Analytics (Kalamazoo) supports clinical drug/device development programs with standard and innovative data management, statistical, and medical writing services.
  • Intervention Insights (Grand Rapids) provides actionable strategies that assist community oncologists in developing personalized treatments for their patients.
  • TransPharm Preclinical Solutions (Napoleon) is a reliable single source provider of a complete array of studies in infectious disease animal models for the antibiotic discovery industry.

Other biosciences companies honored included Integrated Biophotonic Solutions in East Lansing, a leading provider of pulse shapers for ultrafast lasers, who also received the overall Innovation Award, and Hygieia Inc., an emerging company in Ann Arbor with a disruptive technology intent on revolutionizing diabetes care. In addition, Uckele Health & Nutrition in Blissfield, a trusted leader in the formulation, development and manufacture of the highest quality nutritional supplements available for humans and animals, was honored with the Michigan Small Business Person of the Year Award. L’Anse Manufacturing Inc. in L’Anse (Upper Peninsula) was also recognized as a company to watch for its metal machining capabilities that transform concepts into initial prototypes, validation samples, or production parts for the medical device and orthopedic sectors.

Michigan 50 Companies to Watch is presented by Michigan Celebrates Small Business and its founding organizations: the Michigan Economic Development Corp., the Small Business Association of Michigan, the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center, the Small Business Administration and the Edward Lowe Foundation. The program honors Michigan-based second-stage companies that demonstrate high performance in the marketplace or exhibit innovative products or processes.

Nominees are judged on factors including exceptional entrepreneurial leadership, competitive advantage, and demonstrable growth in sales and employee base.
