ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- MichBio, the association for Michigan's biosciences industry, today announced two recipients jointly for its first annual Legislator of the Year Award. The award, which recognizes the state legislator who consistently supports and defends issues of importance to the biotechnology community, will be presented to Rep. Rebekah Warren (D) and Sen. Randy Richardville (R).
"We established the Legislator of the Year Award to honor our deserving Michigan public servants for their leadership and commitment to advancing biotechnology and promoting the public's health and well being," said Stephen Rapundalo, Ph.D., MichBio president and CEO. "Senator Richardville and Representative Warren have provided significant leadership in the formation of the Biosciences Legislative Caucus, one of the few nationally, and creating greater understanding of the biosciences and its critical role in expanding our economy."
The awards will be presented at the Opening Reception of the MichBio Expo on Tuesday, November 18 at the Rock Financial ShowPlace in Novi, MI. The Expo is the premier annual gathering of biosciences professionals in the state and covers two full days, Nov. 18 and 19. It features numerous sessions with presentations and panel discussions by representatives of more than 70 biosciences companies.
