Michigan Biosciences Organization - MichBio Announces BioBriefing for Non-Scientists

ANN ARBOR, MI--(Marketwire - February 15, 2011) - MichBio, the association for Michigan biosciences, and BioTech Primer, a company committed to educating non-science professionals in the basics of biotechnology, will present "BioBriefing: Industry Knowledge for the Non-Scientist," a day-long session on April 18. It will be held at the Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, MI, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and be followed by the MichBio Annual Meeting & Showcase.

"The BioBriefing is led by credentialed BioTech Primer instructors who teach participants with a wide variety of non-science backgrounds to become more instrumental in their organizations' success by understanding the science and technology driving the biotech and pharmaceutical industries," said Stephen Rapundalo, PhD, MichBio President & CEO.

Attendees will receive a reference guide with all the slides presented in the class, background scientific information, statistics, and a glossary of terms.

In addition to the BioBriefing, an afternoon workshop titled, "Driving Value in Your MedTech Company: Successful Growth Strategies in a Competitive Environment" is set for 1-5 p.m. at the Inn at St. John's and will also lead into the MichBio Annual Meeting & Showcase. The workshop will provide attendees with the tools to understand the drivers of value in businesses and how to exploit them to become more profitable, grow and win. Topics covered will include market, innovation and operational-led growth; M&A as a strategy, strategic and corporate planning & implementation, and bioscience case studies.

The MichBio Annual Business Meeting & Showcase draws the industry's leaders and most influential bioscience professionals from across the state.
