Thermal analysis techniques such as DSC, TGA, TMA, and DMA are ideal for characterizing such materials. The most important advantage is that properties can be measured as function of temperature or time over a wide temperature range, from –150 to 1600 °C. Thermal analysis can be used to analyze composite materials. A relatively small representative sample is sufficient to measure the most important properties and characteristics of such materials, for example the glass transition, content, decomposition behavior, and the elasticity and damping behavior.
