Medtronic Inc. officials shared a stage for the first time last week with the computer security professional who demonstrated last year that insulin pumps are vulnerable to hacker attacks.
Bloomberg reports on the security panel discussion between Jay Radcliffe, a diabetic and security expert who published findings last year that devices by Medtronic and other makers had security flaws, and Michael McNeil, Medtronic’s chief privacy and security officer.
At first, Radcliffe said the industry refused to look into his findings, but Fridley-based Medtronic's appearance at last week's conference shows that might be changing.
“We appreciate the technical expertise and insight that comes from the security community and recognize that patients will benefit from our collaboration on this industry-wide issue," the company said in a statement.
