OTTAWA, March 11, 2019 /CNW/ - The CFIA issued the following statement: “The CFIA wishes to correct a news storyv issued earlier today under the headline, “Amid swine fever outbreak, Canada bans Chinese pork imports “
Canada has not banned any products currently eligible for import from China. Canada does not import pigs or pork by-products that originate from any country that is not officially recognized as free of African swine fever. In other words, the products named in the report have never been eligible for import from any country affected by a serious animal disease such as African swine fever.
