FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- LifeSync Corporation today announced the establishment of an Atlanta-based research and design center to develop next generation wireless medical vital signs technology at Technology Square in the Georgia Electronic Design Center (GEDC). The relationship is further supported through the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA). Built on the success of the LifeSync(R) Wireless ECG System, this new facility is responsible for technology and product development of next generation wireless medical device products for use in hospital and outpatient settings.
“GEDC is excited to be part of LifeSync’s strategy for developing innovative products to serve its growing customer base,” said Prof. Joy Laskar, GEDC Director. “All of us at Georgia Tech view the utilization of our research and technology skills as a key responsibility in helping the state prosper in the technology economy of the 21st century. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with LifeSync, and welcome them to Georgia’s growing technology community.”
The Atlanta center will be LifeSync’s principal research and development location. The focus will be on new wireless communication systems that acquire physiological parametric data. The goal of the collaboration is to become a leader in the integration of biomedical sensors by leveraging a strong IP position in the wireless medical space, adopting key technologies, and establishing strategic alliances. LifeSync’s existing presence in the clinical environment and capability in developing FDA regulated products will be enhanced by the deep domain knowledge offered by GEDC, GRA, and Georgia Tech.
“We are delighted to be a part of recruiting LifeSync to Georgia and anticipate that they will be a strong contributor to the state’s medical device industry,” said Susan G. Shows, Georgia Research Alliance Vice President. “Their interest in R&D collaboration with Georgia’s research universities holds the promise of creating important new products that can help the company grow rapidly.”
The Georgia Electronic Design Center (GEDC) supports world-class research, active and solution-oriented industry collaboration, intellectual property generation and revenue generating commercialization efforts. Supported both by industry partners and federal laboratories, GEDC’s research is broadly focused on fostering technology at the intersection of today’s communications applications: wireless/RF, wired/copper and fiber channels.
The Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) is a model public-private partnership between Georgia universities, business and state government, the Georgia Research Alliance helps build Georgia’s technology-rich economy in three major ways: through attracting Eminent Scholars to Georgia’s research universities; through helping create centers of research excellence and through converting research into products, services and jobs that drive the economy.
