CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 13 – Today Life Science Cares announced a second round of grants under the organization’s COVID-19 Response Fund, contributing an additional $270,000 to six nonprofit partners. That brings the total of grants from the new fund to $511,000 for 11 nonprofit partners.
“As the virus reaches the projected peak, we continue to see the disproportionate effect it, and the shelter-in-place advisory, have on our already vulnerable neighbors. Life Science Cares is proud to help feed, house and otherwise support our neighbors in need this week and as the need evolves,” said Executive Director Sarah MacDonald.
Life Science Cares organizes biopharma executives and employees to fight poverty in the community. LSC launched the COVID-19 Response Fund on March 18th and has raised $1.6 million to date. 100% of contributions to the fund go to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on Greater Boston-area residents in need.
Life Science Cares is working to award new grants on a rolling weekly basis during the coronavirus crisis, even as large and small donations continue to come in. Previous grantees included Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, CASPAR, Cradles to Crayons, Project Hope and Rosie’s Place.
