A spin-out company from King’s College London has developed new technology to measure central blood pressure - a more accurate test of the health of your heart. Centron Diagnostics uses patent-pending technology developed by Professor Phil Chowienczyk’s research group at King’s cardiovascular division for its central blood pressure monitor. This is put on the patient in the same way as an arm blood pressure monitor, making it easy-to-use and requiring no specialised training but produces both traditional arm blood pressure as well as central blood pressure. As well as being easy to use, Centron’s central blood pressure monitor costs significantly less than the more complex central blood pressure monitors currently in use.
