BEDFORD, Mass., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Insulet Corporation announced today that Luis Malave has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Since 2002, Mr. Malave has served as the company’s Senior Vice President of Research, Development & Engineering. In his new role, Mr. Malave will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company, including manufacturing, research and development, and quality and regulatory affairs. Insulet Corporation is the developer and manufacturer of the OmniPod(R) Insulin Management System, an innovative product for the treatment of diabetes that brings together safe, reliable, continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion and blood glucose monitoring in a discreet and easy-to-use, two-part system.
With more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry, Mr. Malave spent six years in senior-level positions with Medtronic MiniMed in Northridge, California prior to joining Insulet. During his tenure there, he was responsible for a broad range of market-impacting projects including the development of several insulin pump systems.

Mr. Malave earned Bachelors degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Minnesota, a Masters degree in Software Engineering from the University of St. Thomas, and an MBA from the University of Maryland. He and his family live in Reading, Massachusetts.
