Hospitality Design -- Joie de Vivre is putting on the final touches to Hotel Erwin Venice Beach, formerly the Marina Pacific Hotel, in southern California. Slated to open in mid-July, the 119-key boutique hotel overlooks Muscle Beach and the boardwalk while featuring countercultural elements and pop-style furnishings. As with each of its hotels, Joie de Vivre used five words as inspiration for Hotel Erwin's design: expressive, rebellious, adventurous, fun, and diverse. The hotel's design reflects its iconic location, with graffiti-inspired artwork decorating guestroom doors and photographs of graffiti, rock stars, and eclectic locals lining corridors. Venice-esque guestrooms feature a safety yellow metal screen with a built-in shelf for knickknacks and a signature sunglass honor bar.
