HeartWare Stock Plunges 35% Amid LVAD Uncertainties

Shares of LVAD maker HeartWare International plunged 35% Tuesday, closing at $26.50 per share, on news of lower earningsand uncertainty about the future of its new MVAD system.

About 3 million shares changed hands soon after the company’s announcement that profits had fallen to $68 million for the fourth quarter of 2015, down from $73.2 million for the same period one year ago.

President and CEO Doug Godshall said the company could not set a date for a new clinical trial of its next-generation MVAD system.
