Heart Disease Linked to Macular Degeneration

MedPage Today -- Patients with age-related macular degeneration have an increased risk of coronary heart disease, but not stroke, researchers say. In a large prospective study, patients with the eye disease had 50% greater risk of heart disease than those without it, Tien Yin Wong, MD, PhD, of Singapore National Eye Center in China, and colleagues reported online in Ophthalmology.
