Reno, Nevada (March 30, 2010) - Hamilton Robotics introduces MICROLAB® VENUS two, the next generation of its control software for MICROLAB STAR and STARlet liquid handling workstations. The new program features a touch-screen graphical user interface that streamlines method setup and enhances overall system accessibility. VENUS two also incorporates new multiple language capability to support users around the globe. A dynamic, real-time 3-D deck view has been added, enabling users to test a method in simulation mode before starting the actual run.
Interactive functionality allows the program to seek feedback from the user if necessary while new programming steps and parameters dynamically distribute liquid on the fly. VENUS two includes data handling improvements for easier integration, along with fully customizable input and output dialogs. A new range of error settings includes a walkaway mode.
VENUS two’s scheduler is four times faster than the previous version and programming requires minimal training. A SuperSimpleMethods module facilitates easy programming of the most common lab routines such as copy plates, add buffer or merge plates (e.g. 4x 96-well to 1x 384-well). VENUS two supports the latest Hamilton liquid handling advances including the new 384 STP (shifted tip pickup) head and pipettors with pressure sensors that enable total aspiration and dispense monitoring (TADM).
“VENUS two takes advantage of all the latest user-friendly technology, making it fun and easy to work with,” explained Scott Eaton, “At the same time, the software’s range of functionality is unparalleled.” Hamilton is a leading worldwide supplier of precision liquid handling equipment, laboratory automation and storage systems, serving customers in academic and private research laboratories, pharmaceutical and clinical diagnostic companies and governmental institutions.
