Travelers with over 10 destinations per trip grew 16% in the first half of 2019

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Travel itineraries are expanding as American globe trotters plan to log heavy miles and notch more countries in single international trips than a year ago, an analysis of Passport Health customer itineraries revealed.

Through the first half of 2019, Passport Health appointments for travelers who planned to visit 10 or more countries in a single trip increased by 16% compared to the same period the year prior. This group showed the biggest growth, compared to a 10% increase for travelers with itineraries that included one to four international destinations and an 8% increase for those visiting five to nine countries.

“We believe these numbers quantify what our nurses have been noticing for the past few months,” said David Tedesco, Passport Health Chairman. “In many ways, this trend is representative of the increasing global interest of the American traveler. But a lot of it is just plain fun and adventure as Baby Boomers cross off bucket list trips.”

Passport Health’s most ambitious itinerary year to date was a 101-country global destination list from Antarctica to Argentina in South America to Africa’s Zambia with stops in Liechtenstein, Palau and Sudan. Another traveler planned a 43-country trip that included stops in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Latvia, Oman and South Africa.

“As avid travelers ourselves, we thrive on the excitement that a multiple-destination adventure brings,” Tedesco said. “As travel medicine providers, we’re just happy to help ensure people stay healthy as they set sail on trips of a lifetime.”
