ENA Celebrates the ‘EmpowerED’ Nurse During EN Week 2018

For nearly 30 years, the Emergency Nurses Association has used Emergency Nurses Day and Emergency Nurses Week to shine a glowing spotlight on the outstanding work done by emergency nursing professionals around the world.

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., /PRNewswire/ -- For nearly 30 years, the Emergency Nurses Association has used Emergency Nurses Day and Emergency Nurses Week to shine a glowing spotlight on the outstanding work done by emergency nursing professionals around the world.

The tradition continues this year, from Oct. 7-13, with an “EmpowerED” theme that celebrates nurses for their strength, dedication and selfless work to care for their patients. Emergency Nurses Day falls on Oct. 10.

“As emergency nurses, we are accustomed to giving to others. It is nice, each year on Emergency Nurses Day, to be on the receiving end of gratitude,” said ENA President Jeff Solheim, MSN, RN, CEN, TCRN, CFRN, FAEN. “A heartfelt thank you to all ED nurses for everything they do for their patients and for our profession.”

Since 1989, ENA has recognized the second Wednesday in October as Emergency Nurses Day to honor ED nurses for their commitment to patient care. In 2001, ENA expanded the celebration to an entire week because one day simply wasn’t enough to recognize all the contributions made by emergency nurses.

To help in the festivities, ENA developed an Emergency Nurses Week 2018 Planning Guide to give every emergency department tools and tips to make the most of this very special occasion. Emergency nurses are encouraged to use #EmpowerED and tag @ENAorg on social media this week – and beyond – to show off their photos and stories of nurse empowerment.

Check out @ENAorg on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see how ENA honors ED nurses all week.
