Employers Have Different Standards for Employees of Different Ages

Mona Ridder (Cumberland Times-News) -- I was chatting with someone the other day and we got onto the topic of mid-life career changes and employees generally. I commented that changing careers after a certain age is pretty tough because generally employers don’t want to hire older employees. Anyone over 50 is going to have a hard time and if you are 60 plus ... well, let’s just say good jobs for this group are extremely limited. The general thinking of employers is that they can get younger people at lower salaries and train them to do the work they want to have done.
