Derma Sciences, Inc. Announces 2007 Second Quarter Financial Results

PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Derma Sciences, Inc. (OTCBB: DSCI), a manufacturer and full line supplier of wound and skin care products, today reported its results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2007. For the second quarter ended June 30, 2007, the Company reported net sales of $7,461,258 and a net loss of $109,563 compared to net sales of $7,124,287 and net income of $346,167 for the second quarter of 2006. Sales during the second quarter were driven by contributions from Western Medical, which was acquired by the Company in April 2006, continued growth of the private label business as well as growth in sales of ALGICELLTM Ag Antimicrobial Silver Alginate dressings, which were introduced in November 2006. Gross profit increased $210,030, or 8.6%, to $2,665,198 in 2007 from $2,455,168 in 2006 and gross profit margin percentage increased to 35.7% in 2007 from 34.5% in 2006.
