Coremed, Inc. Introduces IVE(TM), A Proprietary Drug-Delivery Platform Technology That Improves Protein Absorption Within The Gastrointestinal Tract

CHICAGO, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Coremed, Inc., has announced the introduction of IVE(TM), a revolutionary drug-delivery platform technology that improves absorption of certain proteins and macromolecules such as insulin.

Specifically, IVE(TM) (in-vivo encapsulation) is considered a sophisticated physio-chemically triggered drug delivery system within the gastrointestinal tract. It is designed to overcome variables related to membrane permeability, enzymatic degradation, physical barriers, digestive states, hydration status, transit and peristaltic movement.

Based on animal experiments, said Frank K. Leung, M.D., F.A.C.E., Coremed's founder and president, upon administering the IVE(TM) formulation into the GI lumen, in-vivo encapsulated particles are spontaneously generated and spotted in minutes along with the insulin peak in the blood stream of the hepatic portal vein.

Additionally, Leung announced the introduction of CGC(TM), a proprietary, water-soluble, site-specific gel capsule technology that can tolerate high water-content formulation.

In conjunction with Coremed's development of its Intesulin (TM) oral insulin, both IVE(TM) and CGC(TM) were invented in its laboratory.

A small series of "proof-of-principle" human trials of its oral insulin "Intesulin (TM)" is currently in progress. Trial 1 will be compared to Trial 2, which uses IVE(TM).

Earlier this year Coremed, Inc. signed a joint venture partnership agreement with China-based Wanbang and Fosun pharmas to develop its Alveair (TM) inhalable insulin.

Founded in 1994, Coremed, Inc., is exclusively dedicated to the development of alternate insulin delivery. It has conducted some of the most intensive pre-clinical biological trials of oral and pulmonary-delivered insulin anywhere. Over the past five years, it has presented more than 40 professional abstracts.
