Cipher Pharmaceuticals Announces Management Change & Preliminary Q2 Financial Highlights

Cipher Pharmaceuticals Inc. (TSX:CPH) (“Cipher” or “the Company”) today announced that Mr. Craig Mull has been named Interim Chief Executive Officer of Cipher, replacing Robert Tessarolo.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, July 29, 2019 /CNW/ - Cipher Pharmaceuticals Inc. (TSX:CPH) (“Cipher” or “the Company”) today announced that Mr. Craig Mull has been named Interim Chief Executive Officer of Cipher, replacing Robert Tessarolo. The Company has commenced a formal search process for a new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Mull is the Chair of the Board of Directors of Cipher and has extensive experience in the Canadian healthcare industry, including holding the position of COO with CML HealthCare, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations. During his tenure at CML, Mr. Mull was part of a small executive team that grew the company from a market cap of $100 million to over $1.2 billion. Mr. Mull also played an integral role in planning and structuring Cipher’s initial public offering as it was spun out of CML.

Preliminary Financial Highlights for Q2 2019

The Company also provided preliminary estimates of its financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2019. The complete financial statements will be released on Aug 9, 2019. These preliminary financial results are subject to completion of Cipher’s customary quarterly closing and review procedures. Unless otherwise noted, all figures are in U.S. currency.

The Company expects the following results for Q2 2019:

  • Total revenue in the range of $5.4 million to $5.6 million, compared with $6.95 million in Q2 2018.
  • Earnings per share in the range of $0.04 to $0.05 ($0.05 to $0.066 in Canadian dollars*), compared with $0.07 in Q2 2018.

Cipher also announced that the Board of Directors has formed a Special Committee, to review and evaluate the strategic direction of the Company with management and consider various alternatives to maximize shareholder value.

Mr. Mull added: “We believe the Q2 results show early evidence of our commitment to increasing profitability, and we look forward to providing a more detailed operational and strategic update when we report our Q2 financial results.”
