Scientists have developed a “chemical shield” which may stop patients developing infections in hospitals. University of Chicago researchers say the special coating would act as a barrier, preventing bacteria from causing infection. Bacteria usually act when they sense chemical stress messages which tell them the body is vulnerable, the researchers told Gastroenterology.
