Cheating Women “May Blame Their Genes”

Women who cheat on their partners could blame a large part of their infidelity on their genes, according to new research published today.Professor Tim Spector, director of the Twin Research Unit at St Thomas’ Hospital, central London, that carried out the study said there may be an important reason for women to stray from their partners and added no one gene was responsible for the behaviour but a “suite” of genes.Doctors working at the unit undertook the study to look at the genes underlying infidelity and a number of sexual partners women have. The search found that genetic factors accounted for 40% of the reasons for an affair with other issues like a shared family environment, and more importantly individual life events accounting for the remaining 60%.The study also found that the number of sexual partners a woman has is 38% due to her genes.
