Although women undergoing cesarean sections have a slightly higher risk of complications, cesarean delivery will prevent most cases of anal incontinence in women who have had previous anal tears, according to a new study. Dr. David S. McKenna and colleagues from Wright State University, in Ohio, used a model to study the risks of cesarean sections and vaginal deliveries in women who had a history of anal tears.
