While a caesarian section may be a life-saving operation for a mother, the artificial mode of birthing could increase the risk of the child becoming overweight later in life. According to a new study from the Imperial College London and published in the journal PLOS ONE, the chance of being overweight or obese increases 26 percent for a child when it is born by caesarean section compared to vaginal delivery.
