PA -- A baby is twice as likely to be born bottom first if either or both parents were themselves breech deliveries, indicating the position is inherited, a study said. The vast majority of babies are born head first and fewer than one in 20 are the other way round, researchers in Norway found. Such deliveries carry significantly greater risks for babies, who are more likely to die or suffer from health problems, the British Medical Journal, which is publishing the study said.
