A startup that makes an intravenous-tube-securing device has changed its name and hired a chief executive officer. Linebacker is the new name for the former SyberMed Enterprises, with the name change reflecting an emphasis on the company’s product rather than its founder, Dr. David Sybert, who is also chairman of the department of anesthesia at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Linebacker is also the name of the company’s product, a disposable low-cost device designed to lock in a catheter and IV line with a hook-and-loop closure. The company says the device is stronger, more comfortable and more secure than medical tape. The device comes with a strap that allows for customization for patients.
